Disclaimer: This only sheds light on the main aspect of owning a business, anything can go wrong in any scenario.

As the city recovers from the recession it undergone months ago, the demand for local business is rising greater than before. Consumers demand variety in the food and guns they purchase, and don't particularly want to always have to go to any of the "hundreds" of Toomdays businesses across the city. The good thing for consumers is that local business provides more options than a larger business and focus more on products of quality than quantity. Now, this demand doesn't only benefit the consumers, but also current and future business owners in the city (and beyond, will be touched on later).
So how exactly can a person interested in starting a business take advantage of this extravaganza? The first and number one thing a business owner has to know is location, location location.

If you don't select the proper location, you won't get enough consumers to buy your products. If not enough people are buying your products, you'll be forced to go out of business. Selecting the right location can be both easy and difficult. The first thing to look for in a location is accessibility. Are the people you market to located in that area? If not, you must either find out where they usually lie or you will have to market to a different demographic. In Lou Bricant's case, he chose the Commerce Mall as the location for his clothing shop because people who are new to the city tend to go to that mall to shop for clothes.

The above photo is an accurate depiction of a place you do not want to establish your business. The second thing you must look for is how many businesses actually supply the demand in a location. In this case, there are more than enough businesses to supply any demand which may be in that area despite the high traffic. Referring back to Toomsday businesses, the reason they've been very successful is because the founder, Toompert Daman, has always selected locations which were not being supplied with the services people in those places demanded. He's always been, according to himself, "smart" with his business decisions and has "never gambled."
The third and final thing a business owner must have is confidence in their ability to succeed. Never let yourself down when you see a drop in profits, because this will always happen in the business world. Keeping your head up will make sure you don't make any unfortunate mistakes which could cost you your entire business. And keep a good reputation with your community. When they know your name and have a positive view of you, they will be more likely to buy from your businesses.

As the population gradually rises and housing becomes scarce in Los Santos, people will start to move outward into the outskirts of Los Santos, and even into the other bigger cities nearby. Those people will very much need businesses to supply their needs and soon (even now) will be a great time to capitalize on the demand there as well.
