There is a new problem for the police to take care off, and it's bigger than gang wars or robberies. This new threat has changed the priorities of gangs, and it even raised an alarm with the National Army of San Andreas.
This new wave of crime has been given the title "Crate Island Incidents". What does that mean, however? This article seeks to provide a clearer picture to our readers.

Firstly we had to talk with the authorities and learn more info about the island and its dangers
Thats why i had a talk with the FBI agent from the Human Resources division, Ryder Murdoc:

Q: What is this so called "crate island" and what is the Bureau's there?
A: "Crate Island" is a small isle off the coast of Red County, which was in the past used a warehouse for a large company. Today is is just an abandoned junkyard. It appears, however, that gangs, modern-day pirates and criminal organizations are taking advantage of the remote location to smuggle various shipments. Our main of objective, as is the police's, is to intercept them before the shipment reaches the Los Santos shores. So far, we have succeeded multiple times.

Q: Can you tell me more about how the criminals operate?
A: Typically, a shipment arrives every 3 hours to the island, that gang-affiliated citizens try stealing. While that is indeed quite a few shipments in a 24 cycle, our job is to stop them from doing so, and most of the time we succeed, as our equipment is more modern and we have government supplied weapons.

Q: What happens when you succeed?
A: When we do succeed the mayor provides us a bonus to our salary, as a sign of goodwill.

Q: What is inside these crates that the government values so much?
A: It changes. Most of the time there's drugs in it. Sometimes it contains benign things like clothing, or cigarettes. However, there is no legally issued trade document to harbor it in Los Santos, and it is immediately sold over to the black market, which, as contraband, we try stopping.

Q: Is there any division in FBI tasked with "crate island" incidents in particular?
A: While the whole of the FBI does help battle piracy, it is the duty of the Special Operations Group (S.O.G) to primarily stop it.

Q: What is so different about S.O.G from the other branches of FBI?
A: The S.O.G is in charge of delivering notorious suspects and also tasked to intervene into organized crime. They are the special forces of the FBI, and are most of the time used as a right hand to eliminate any thread towards us.

After the interview, SAN News went to the crate island under the protection of LSPD and FBI, to show to our audience the situation in the island. Clearly, like Mr. Murdoc mentioned, it was clear that this was an abandoned warehouse of sorts, with boxes, crates and disused forklifts littered everywhere. Considering how easy it could be to hide and conceal items, it is no wonder that criminals around Los Santos are using this as a springboard to transport their goods.

(LSPD taking protective measures before the pirates arrive on the island)
When the pirates made their move, LSPD was prepared for everything. SAN News got an exclusive recording from the officials at crate island when they were under attack
Pilot: Cobra 7, Cobra 7 enemy spotted i repeat enemy spotted
Pilot 2: Affirmative i can see them! 6 boats north east 4 or 5 people in each of it
HQ: Roger that Cobra 7 we are sending the line 5 in there, is (REDACTED) on that?
Agent from line 7: Yes he is..... They are close we are opening fire! (heavy gunshot noises) ...Reloading!..(unrecognized voices) putang ina mo!...aaaaah
HQ we will need backup fast!

Officials that day succeeded in protecting the island with minimum injuries. But the government isn't always successful in its operations. We sat down for an interview with an anonymous gang member from Los Santos Vagos:
------------------------------------------------------

Q: Why are you utilizing crate island?
A: Ayee its easy drugs man, our gang needs all that shit you know huh

Q: How is your gang reacting against the cops protective measures?
A: Aaah, man you know our gang is still small but we got our good tricks on the island, sure cops have the upper hand but these putos have shit for brains, we givin' them a hard time

Q: What you do after capturing the crates?
A: Oooo, we fly out of there we leave those boats and get our helis, then we gun down any cop that comes close to us

------------------------------------------------------

In a nutshell, crate island is a highly dangerous place and citizens should avoid it. Fishermen or people working around that region should take the necessary precautions or consider another career path in a different region of the city
