First steps towards Light Roleplay

Hey Lunatics!

We are happy to announce that Light Roleplay will be officially implemented next week along with our next weekly update. We have been discussing this topic for quite sometime now and we all believe it is time for changes. We have made community polls several times and the results have always been the same, and that's the majority prefering having Light RP and a healthier environment.

First things first, until today Lawless Roleplay has always been a dynamic roleplay server, meaning that roleplaying has always been optional and there were no punishments for anyone who for any reason did not want to roleplay. However we believe that it is time to upgrade our standards, so we have decided to increase our roleplay requirements from dynamic to light roleplay! Not to worry, nobody will force you to roleplay everything you do! Light roleplay means that we will be implementing a few rules which will not be hard to adapt to, with metagaming being the backbone of it all.

Metagaming (MG)

Metagaming is the act of mixing out-of-character real life information with in-character information and having it influence your in-character decisions and actions. Examples of metagaming:

  • Talking in-character normal chat about anything out-of-character or in a different language, that's what the "/b" command is for.
  • Killing someone for insulting you over OOC chats such as "/g" or "/b".
  • Calling for backup via discord voice while being restrained and unable to use /backup.

Powergaming (PG)

Powergaming is the act of roleplaying unnatural situations, forcing roleplay on people without giving them a chance to effect the outcome, making up things that did not happen in order to influence others and roleplaying things that are not possible in order to gain an unfair advantage. Examples of powergaming:

  • *Barney grabs a bus and slams it on Immad's head.
  • *Simon kicks Sharpe in the balls, causing him to die.
  • Roleplaying that you do not have items which were found on you when you were frisked.

Here is a quick voice tutorial made by our beloved @Kent_Reggal in order to help the community understand the concepts of having light roleplay:

Last things last, we're fully aware that some of the community members totally oppose the idea of having Light Roleplay considering our past long term Dynamic Roleplay experience and the fact that our community members are from countries all around the world and not all of them being able to speak proper english. Yet again, this is what Light Roleplay is all about, it's about communicating with each other without using real life information to declare wars upon another, everything will be totally in-character related and believe us it will be an amazing experience once you get yourselves used to it, time is the key.

Regarding rules and punishments we have properly studied them and they will be revealed next week along with the update, they will not be severe. In the mean time we recommend that we all start putting effort into roleplaying with each other so when the time comes we'll be ready for this new spectacular experience. We will also be taking the following measurements from today till next week.

  • Staff members including helpers and mappers will help anyone through the process by roleplaying themselves and properly communicating with whoever needs assistance.
  • Faction Management will communicate with Faction Leaders and make a plan to help faction members adapting a Light Roleplay behavior.
  • Gang Management will communicate with Gang Leaders and make a plan to help gang members adapting a Light Roleplay behavior.

That would be all, looking forward to share this new experience with all of you! Cheers and long live Lawless Roleplay!

i support that but first u have to check staff departments and Staff power before start doing this step
like
1. you need staff know rules and know what is Roleplay mean
2. you need helpers purge to start hire new helpers that who understand Roleplay
3.you need to fix issue between game affairs power and other departments powers
4. you need to add tutorial for players ( like Video form in game show them how to speak ooc and how to speak icly and how to avoid MG / PG )
5. don`t jail / punish Newbie players from level 1 to level 2 because they are still need knowledge specially for player who can`t speaking English
6. if staff MG while he is on a duty or Helper Team. he will get punishment as well

Finally we are here.
I would like to tell anyone that if you need help or a guidance on how to get familiarized with Light Roleplay rules, i will be here for you, forums, in-game or discord. It's time we give a helping hand to each other and walk through Light Roleplay together instead of baiting each other and hoping for our enemies to break those Light Roleplay rules!

TOGETHER WE CAN MOVE FORWARD, TOWARDS A BETTER ENVIRONMENT!
