Yesterday, at 4:59AM, Whetstone's local police station received several calls of an explosion on the foot of Mount Chiliad. With deep regret, the authorities couldn't do anything but take their hats down in sign of respect and calling ambulances, after arriving to the scene.
A 1988 "Journey" Campervan, which was parked on the camping area of Mt. Chiliad, seemingly had a failure of the handbrakes. What follows, is the Whetstone Police Department report.
5:52AM. The handbrake failure resulted in a fall for hundred of meters down the mountain. [...] The impact with the road has been so strong that ruptured the gasoline and the LPG tank, which caused the explosion. This also caused the shatter of a windshield of a passing-by car, where the driver is hospitalized with non-serious glass shard wounds. The couple has been unfortunately been declared dead on impact by the Angel Pine Hospital EMS. The road is reported to be damaged as well.
The declaration of the Sheriff also includes any hypothesis of homicide or any other "planned" accident, so as it follows, is our summary about the accident and the circumstances.
Authorities have been searching for a reasonable answer, and roughly yesterday evening, they stated that there is no trace or possibility of homicide. The husband Micheal Scotman, 61, was initially suspected of being the author of this tragedy, however there was no sign of mental illness which could have caused this. The criminal record was also checked for any presumable hint, but as authorities wrote, "There was no sign of any serious criminal record. The only recent offence was registered 5 years ago: Travelling at 51MPH on a 35MPH limit zone."
Authorities also checked his only social media account. There has been a misleading post, which has been classified however as "a normal post for a person of their age". A research has also been made on the wife, however in this case, nothing even slightly misleading was found.
We have also interviewed their child, 26, which has confirmed that "There is no way that they would have killed each other. They've been married for more than 40 years and so I've been told, they have been happily married ever since. So in short words, I am sure that this isn't an homicide."
None has even barely suspected that the man could've been the author of this homicide, on which everyone agrees, not only the authorities are sure about this but also their relatives have confirmed the impossibility of an homicide. Everything has been classified as a mechanical failure after the finding of substances similiar to brake fluid on the place where the campervan was parked. Unfortunately, none is currently able to retrieve the list of the mechanical jobs done to the campervan, which could leave to interesting details. However, we would unlikely be able to find such information around also because of the family business, which is a car repair shop. Perhaps a brake revision gone wrong? It will be discovered by the authorities.
The couple's funeral will be held in a private ceremony, on sept. 26.
